there has been talk about adding classes to group four but I felt that by adding a small group of FC would chase away the larger group of FVs. At this point the idea has been shelved. We knew group two would be over subscribed and entries were turned down. There would have to be a real trend developed that showed group four entries way down and group two entries way up for several events before anything would change in the group make up. So show up and race and let the numbers speak for themselves.

Toad aka Brian Swanson won his first race from the pole. Congratulations. Morss 2nd, Petrek 3rd, Bryan Bartlett 4th. I'm not sure the results of the Fords so I will leave it to someone more informed.

Congratulations to Brian Swanson on a well deserved victory! Especially it being the first, and not the last I`m sure. He looked good all weekend and on older tires no less- Should be a great year for the championship with several stong contenders. Good luck everyone.

Ford results FF Peter, Seth, Mike B (Nik aka Porter kid spun in T2 and I clipped his RR wheel w my RR wheel-my CV failed 2 laps later --thanks for helping put it on the trailer in inpound Brian) CF Chuck Horn F5 Jeff J (new qual record)
I went to the first 1/2 hr of the grp 2 meeting. While they may not move another grp into grp 4 just yet, we may lose our split qualifying session. Hard to justify a 20 min session for only a dozen cars. Mike Smith said Sears charges $25 large per DAY!! That's some chump change. The BOD hates to turn away any entry if they have to cover that kind of cost. dave

3 or 4 nationals in a year in SFR? How many years ago was that? You are going waaaay back I think; Back around 2000 there was the March THill national and then there were usually Sears and Laguna dates two weeks apart later in the summer. We used to drive down, run the first weekend, leave the cars and fly home, fly back down for the second date and drive back up. Perhaps I am mixing in a regional, but if memory serves, they were all nationals.

There used to be a late national at Sears, sometimes it was a combo Nat/Reg. It was taken off the schedule because of the cost of renting Sears against the low entries of the Nationals.
The bunching of Nationals up North has reduced the travel cost a bit but it kills the rest of the national season. Very few of us can afford flying back and forth and leaving the rig behind.

I wasnt implying people should fly. I was just relaying the number of nationals as I recall them. Although airfare is MUCH cheaper than driving. Cost me $50 to fly from Portland to Sacramento last month! ;D

Don't forget, there will be a national in Reno in June (Father's Day, I believe).
The Reg/Nat at Laguna was always a big draw as I remember. The National races on Sat afternoon and the regionals on Sunday. The CF guys would go play golf Sat PM.
Also, Rooms are VERY scarce for Memorial weekend @ Thill.
