You are thinking what most would however there are other factors that those in favor seem to either not know or do not care. The intake system is just that. The manifold is just a part of the system. You change one and it effects the others. Engine builders will test how to maximize the power and the cost will be passed along to whoever. It matters not how much the spec will cost because it is only a partial of the total. No one knows what that will be because no one knows what design will be used.
Remember a Spec part is by definition required and your current manifold will become devalued or worthless.

Its ok Bruce, I'd fall into the undecided category anyways. So bout the new manifold being spec, I thought we were calling it spec cause no one else had a name for it. I was thinking it would be an alternative part or optional

Bruce,
I'm for it too. I cant see any reason to have gazillion dollar parts on a $5k car. Phase it in over two seasons and there shouldnt be any probs.

I've changed and added where needed. Right now, no one knows what type of spec manifold they are going to propose.
