Please post your opinions about this topic.
ESPECIALLY if you participated in the old FVRA series.

I wouldn't mind, if we could do it without those ovals. I personally would not want to have to deal with them. I know that some would find or think them fun and I'm sure they may be, but the damage everyone gets is not.

No oval involved, heard too many stories about bent metal.

I voted yes, but realistically I cant see how we could get enough drivers to support another championship on top of regionals and nationals.

I can't vote either way, as I don't know what this would be. Would this be within SCCA or a separate sanctioning body?

I've run both the Southern Ca. version and the Nor Cal version and they both were great ideas but they take a lot of work to put together. Either we need to compensate someone, via commissions, or form a group that's willing to do all the work.
I worked with the Valvoline series and when Valvoline left there just wasn't enough money or interest to continue.
Unfortunately, the ovals are the best opportunity out there. Plenty of tracks and fans too. MY impression that the old oval series died off because there wasn't anyone out there pursuing the tracks.

Guys, The greybeards will remember the FV pro series of the 1980's. There were no extra races, but several regional races were designated "pro" and were sponsored by H&H, the VW parts distributor. Participants' cars bore big H&H decals and the company put a prize fund. Checks were distributed to the top several drivers after each race. To have a similar series all we need is to find a sponsor or sponsors. As I remember, FV participation was pretty healthy during the H&H series. Mack

Mack has got the format right here, the races would be run INTERNAL to the Formula Vee Regional series, initially in the San Francisco Region and maybe branching out to other track if interest increased.
I see two potential formats for the series:
1) Find a sponsor to pony up the prize money 2) Participating drivers pay into a fund at the beginning of the series and prize funds come out of that 3) A combination of the two (OK! THREE! THREE protential formats!)
Drivers who were participating in the series would have to "buy into it" and declare they are participants to collect prize money.
Get money involved in one way or another an people will come out of the wood work to get involved (for an example of the OPPOSET of this look at what happened to the Le Car Challenge and Alliance Cup after the dough dried up...or wait for MAZDA to get bored with the MIATAS)
