Hi,
I have only run in ICSCC races in the past. However, this year I plan to run in a couple SCCA Regional events just for kicks. Is there much difference in terms of rules, etc.? I looked over the GCR's and they appear pretty much the same. Do the Regional's use the same spec AR tire too?
What about stickers, etc. I understand that i need to put an SCCA sticker on my car, is that it?
As far as procedures, is that basically the same as well?
What kind of participation do you see for the Vee's? I would like to get some under my belt so that I can run some national's next year.
Any advice would be great.

Everything is pretty much the same. However, I do not think there is a spec tire for OR or NW regions. However, it sholdn't be a problem because no one runs FV in OR or NW regionals (for the most part, anyhow). The problem with FV in the NW is no one runs FV regionals and the fields for ICSCC are few (4 or 5 cars now, maybe?). To run with decent fields with fast cars, you need to run nationals (which inlcudes CA so you get more than 3 weekends per season). It should make you faster as well since you have faster cars to hang onto.

That's the idea. I figure, I plan to run between 7-10 ICSCC races this year, depending on budget, crashes, etc. And 3 or 4 SCCA Regionals. This should get me enough seat time that I can hopefully not finish last in the nationals the following year.
I am hoping to run with the bigger fields and faster cars by 2007.
Just got my engine back in my car after a fresh SR Racing rebuild, so hopefully the motor won't dog out on me anymore. (Last year I would get up to 5700 RPM coming down the straight in Seattle and it would refuse to go any higher. I got to 5900 once in the draft, but then they pulled away and I that was that.)

Seattle is a long straight. I frequently see 6200-6300 on my own. In a fast draft (like at the double national) I have seen 6700.

Precisely why I was so frustrated with the engine. I would accelerate out of 8 with everyone else, then at about the kink, everyone would slowly pull away because my little engine would stop peddling!
By turn 2 everyone would be 100 yards in front of me.

SCCA requires fire bottle, and shut off switch stickers too. Don't think there's anything else.

This is one of those questions that is so stupid, that nobody bothers to actually put it in a book..... I hesitate to even ask the question on a public forum..... :-)
The "OFF" switch.....does that just go next to the kill switch? Or does it need to be on the side of the switch that is off? Or...does it even matter, as long as it is by the switch?

If you are going to run with SCCA get a copy of the GCR. It has ALL of the rules in one place.

the off sticker is supposed to go on the bodywork as close to the switch as possible. so if your switch is inside the fuel test portpit, like on the dash, or on the firewall, put it on the bodywork in the closest possible location so a corner worker could find it easily by locating the sticker. -ethan
