Hi all,
I've introduced myself over on the FV interchange so I thought I'd come introduce myself to the local boards as well for those who don't frequent that site. My name is D.J. and I'm looking to get into FV as soon as possible (I'm graduating college this Friday and have job interviews set up already so hopefully the funds will come by the end of the year). Some people on the interchange said I should attend an event and see if I can sit in some cars and find one that fits me comfortably so I've decided to go to the race this weekend at T-Hill. My question is... any advice as far as trackside manners? When you guys should be approached? Who's open to this? I'm just looking to meet some guys interested in what I'm interested in and I'm new to the SCCA stuff and I want to make sure I don't step on any toes or anything. I know people need there prep time and I want to make sure I'm not interfering with anything. Also does anyone know admission prices for spectators? Does it cost extra to get down to the pits? Thanks in advance everyone.

This will be the perfect weekend, since we will all be together in the paddock. Just come up and introduce yourself. I'm in the silver Vee #34. The only time not too good would be before we go out, any other would be OK. The best time would be when we are working on our cars since you could watch and learn. Most of us don't mind as that is how we learned. There is no admission charge. You will have to sign in at the gate and register at registration. The only people allowed in the pit lane are members. Go to www.sfrscca.org and look up all the details for membership. See you at the track.

DJ A common misconception is the distinction between the "hot pits" (along the wall of the track were cars can come on and off the track during a session) and the paddock. The paddock is were we set up "camp" with our support vehicles, lunch stuff, get into and out of our driver's suits, and work on the race cars. AND of course, brag about how fast we went or are about to go. As Bruce stated, you can walk through the paddock for free after signing the wavier. When you walk through the paddock, look and talk with the drivers of as many types of cars as possible. There may be other cars that catch your eye that you were not aware of that might be a good fit/choice. Hard to beat Vees for "the bang for the buck", the great racing and the friendship. dave d
