Well I am starting this thread up outside of the "Split Start" thread and am throwing the question out for discussion:
The open wheel cars are decreasing in number, what do/can we do about it?
I will start by saying that the Ford contingent has been much more successful than the Vee guys in "getting out the vote", gridwise. So I will simply ask
"What did you guys do to get that going?"

DSR seems to another noticable improver in terms of car numbers (at least at nationals). Is there anything to be learned from them?

Besides having a rational approach to rules changes? I think DSR is where all the "tinkerers" are going these days. It is the last bastion for them.

I wish I had an answer to the question of how we did it. The Fords had been lucky in that we had lost quite a few but also gained those numbers plus a few extra. It helps to have as many paddock spaces together as possible. Eat lunch with each other. Go to dinner. "Leave no man behind". HAVE FUN. The same stuff the Vee guys do. I saw a guy write "racing is too d**n expensive to be miserable doing it." And don't foret the GAS CARDS! Send your money into Peter Nosler or give it to him @ Laguna. Speaking of money, have you checked the price on a Stohr DSR lately? www.leestohr.comdave

Don't have to look, all I have to do is take out a TAP Plastic catalog and price out Carbon Fiber cloth (yes, I know it can be gotten cheaper elsewhere! Work with me people!).
The guys I am talking about are the guys who go out and convert a Lol T440 to motorcycle power, put an envelope body on it and go race. The real racer who TINKER and have boxes of MAC and SNAP-ON tools.
