OK, long range weather forecast is for SUN! Entry list shows 14 CFs, 12FFs, and 18 Vees for a total of 44! Second biggest group after Miatas. Don't forget we have a 2nd race. Hopefully, we will have a better start. dave And Marty, I plan to have another set of tires for you.

OK, what happened this weekend? With all the cars in the gravel and all the cars spinnning. Was it the dry track? Was it people running into each other? Who were the two FFs that spun at the exit of 11 on the second restart of the second race? I think the pace car was credited with a finish because of all the laps it was out there.

Blake, the two FFs that spun on the restart (race#2) were the Porter boys-Mike and Alex. Pete had the two of them breathing down his neck and he really put the hammer down exiting T11. The first one spun and tagged the wall (Alex). The second one (Mike) spun trying to avoid Alex (I think). I was 4th, but had a Vee in between me and the front three, so I was a tad slow getting to T11-unable to pass the Vee til the green (Peter had nailed it after the pace car pulled off prior to T11). I was able to sneak between the spun cars (and pass the Vee) and run after Peter to finish 2nd. Now for the big problem: The gravel traps. A slight off course excussion results in a dnf and tow once you get into the gravel. The tow truck even got stuck. This ruins the car's race that gets stuck AND it ruins the race for every else with all the pace car laps. This past weekend, the pace car had to be refuel it ran so many laps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL dave

I was the Vee who got gathered up in the front behind the pace car. If that ever happens to me again I'll pull off into the pits and take my proper place in the rear of the pack. After avoiding the fords I stayed in 2nd gear with my arm sticking out to point the 40+ cars by, worring untill T-5 I was going to be rear ended... L.S has become a one event track (Moto-GP). Dorna, Yamaha and Red Bull is pumping millions into the facility so they have a large voice as to what happens there...My thought is why can't they push some of the gravel away from the turns to thin it out then thicken it back up again for the one weekend it's really needed. If the SCCA, Skip Barber and the various pro event folks speak up perhaps something can be done ... Gus FV #77

Gus, I like your idea of the THIN gravel near the track and thick gravel out a ways. You are dead nuts right about the money and Moto GP. In the past, I have gone off the track to avoid an incidence. If anyone tries that now, they will be watching the race from the wall. WRT being stuck at the front for a restart, instead of pulling off into the pits, you could "disable" yourself by pull out of line (off the racing line) and putting your arm up and let the herd go by and then get back in line where you feel comfortable. dave

I just saw Tom Duncan's videoS of the restart for race #2. Fun stuff. He has a cam mounted forward as well as one mounted rearward! Interesting to watch and look for the waving yellow @ T11. Gus, it looks like you did a great job moving far right and off the line on the restart. Not to mention avoiding the spinning cars.
