A minimum of 3 weekends and a minimum of 3 finishes are required. Top 10 in points from the Majors go to the Runoffs that have also achieved enough points to be in the upper 50% of the nationwide points standing to qualify. In the Western conference in vees, the 50% rule is pretty much a given if you make enough events. Last year, the 50% was mid 30 points.

Are you sure about all the dates and tracks? It would seem to me that SFR would have two races. Cal club has two and northwest has two, SFR has three great tracks. One would think SFR would want one at Thunderhill and almost have to have one at Laguna Seca.

Larry,
Unfortunately SFR has never been super hip on National events, and has preferred to focus on their regional events. With the Majors events excluding all the regional-only classes, and national participation already being pretty low in SFR, excluding an entire weekend is not very appealing (even though Brian was saying they wanted to have three at one point?). Whereas Cal Club and the Northern Pacific clubs participation mainly consists of National licensed drivers, which run those events pretty frequently (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, just my point-of-view).
I wouldn't be surprised if the main reason was down to not coming up with a schedule fast enough for the national office while everyone else was pretty much ready to go (almost the same exact dates as this year's events), and the got snookered on getting the dates.

SF Region always announces the schedule dates at the year end banquet. This year it is Sat. Nov. 9th.

I thought I heard that the normal March national at THill will be an early April Major instead. Guess we'll see.

I got an email about a draft schedule for SFR 2014. March 28-30 Laguna regional
APRIL 12-13 MAJOR. THUNDERHILL JUNE 6-8 MAJOR. INVITATIONAL MAJOR LAGUNA
Sept. 12-14 Laguna regional
So two majors for SFR. Although I don't know who is included in the invitational major. But I'm happy for all the Laguna Seca track time.

All will be discussed this weekend, including the spec tire rule.
We will be having a group BBQ on Friday. Bring your choice of meat, a drink and something to share. Bring your own chair. If anyone has pictures or videos to share on history of FV, please bring.

The June Laguna event will be a double regional along with being an "Invitational Major". Not totally sure what that is. "Here is a description of an Invitational from the 2014 Major presentation • Invitational/Festival/Showcase Events –Likely to be held at Driver Preferred “Club Tracks” due to lower entry numbers –Focus on limited classes and unique opportunities –2 day event – 10 class/5 run group maximum –May count for points and Runoffs eligibility" These phrases jump out at me: "Driver Preferred Club Tracks" "Unique opportunities" "10 classes/5 run groups maximum" "May count for points and Runoffs eligibility" "MAY COUNT" WTF??? The SFR FF group is discussing changing its spec tire rule for 2014. One option discussed was an "open" tire rule for Laguna to give guys a chance to practice/work on set-ups and race on "National" tires and have restricted tires at the other SFR tracks (Thill/Sears). A second option was any tire, but only one set per double race weekend (2 qual/2 races on one set). The thought is that Laguna is smooth and cool enough to use Hoosier R25s for the Runoffs.

Word from the TOP:
I keep waiting for someone from SFR to answer, but maybe they're not sure either.
Their listing for the June 5-8 weekend is misnamed - it will actually be a Festival run under the auspices of the Majors program.
. All Runoffs classes plus selected (by SFR) regional-only classes will be invited. . Some run groups will have both regional-only and Runoffs-eligible classes. . The format will be what was called a "Double Rational" in 2013. . Additionally there will be separate bonus races for SM and SRF. . Nationwide points will be awarded for all Runoffs-eligible classes. These points will NOT count toward Western Conference championships but will count towards Runoffs qualification via the "50% point of the class" criteria.
This is a compromise between SFR's desire to maintain their local race program plus our desire to give Runoffs-bound drivers additional incentive to get additional seat time at MRLS. __________________ Butch Kummer SCCA Director of Club Racing, Majors 2006, 2007, 2010 SARRC GTA Ch
I don't know what the 50% point of the class criteria is.

The 50% is the amount of majors points needed to qualify for the Runoff. It is determined by the previous years points. F5- 61, FC- 31, FF- 35 and FV- 48. These are the minimum required points to qualify.
