I heard a certain F5 with a penchant for hitting everyone else may have started it. Anyone know what happened? Cars easily fixed? Any video of it?

While I would prefer to watch all the videos first, I did have a front row seat on what happened. It was a classic case of two cars wanting the same piece of the track. Knowing that Joe, who was to the left of me, would be dealing with cold tires, I chose to hesitate a second to see how things were going to settle out. Unfortunately, Brian saw a huge opening inside me and took it. Since our mirrors can't see through cars or two lanes over, Joe moved to the apex just as Brian was arriving. That was it. I managed to avoid almost everything but got hit at least 4 times by cars that were right behind me. I doubt that any of them had a chance to do anything else. But it is still a strong case for being patient and keeping your eyes way forward during starts. I did hear a rumor that one car was in the air before the accident even happened but we'll have to see the videos to confirm that.
Like I said, we'll all be geniuses when the videos come out, but given the amount of impatience and unnecessary contact this weekend, I don't think any of us should walk away pleased with the class's performance. We lost 6 cars in the first lap, and 4 more cars retired Sunday due to contact during the race. Think about it, that's virtually 50% of the class knocked out by contact!
I was completely embarrassed when a very experienced steward said to me, "I guess you guys do better when there's only 4 or 5 of you."
Folks we all need to step back and think about this weekend because if this kind of racing takes place at Laguna speeds, someone is going to get hurt. Simple as that, remember, your risk assessments effect the safety of others.
No one has won a race on the first lap, but many have been lost one. Let's do a better job next time.
My car will need some rubbing and another valuable & rare rim, but I'm planning to do Buttonwillow. See you there.

He has NO idea what goes on around him and he is involved in SO many wrecks. He is always at the start of them. I was almost put upside down by him a few years ago in 5 at Thunderhill. Dave Jalen was nearly cut in two at Sears because of him (8-10 years ago maybe). When will SF Region do something about him? He is dangerous.

I think the E-Crew had more laps than some of the run groups. The boneyard at impound was a busy place for many run groups.

I have a pretty good video of the carnage, however, it is difficult to see how it started. I will post it when I have time to edit it.

Like I said, to me it was a racing incident. Let's wait for a video before we become experts. I know Joe better than any of you and it's never his intent to cause issues and driving a 500 on cold tires is no easy task. If having repetitive cases of contact is grounds for "doing something", I think a lot of us could use some mirror time. "Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone."

The Thill Major Feature Race was the longest 16 lap race I can EVER recall. My video cam stopped after 43 minutes (about lap 6). I have great footage of sitting on the front straight if anyone needs a sleep aid.
Was the contact primarily between the cars of the same class (not inter-class warfare)? I did see Jeft J in a F5 run into a Vee on the back straight when we were behind the safety car. And who was the Vee who was driving on the new, unfinished section of Thill West (between T9 and T10, driver's right) How did he get up there w/o 4WD?

That was Dennis Andrade up there. Sounds like jake hit him between 9 and 10 and he somehow ended up ALL the way up that hill.
As for Joe, Im sure its NOT his intention to cause wrecks, Brian. However, it is clear that he is in fact a hazard. I feel pretty confident saying that despite whatever racing sins are in my past.

What is that sound @ :21 seconds in? It sounds like a thump of some sort. Nice video, but once again, we can not see the cause of the action. Did Marjorie get frequent flyer miles for her airborne ride?

Funny, that thump is me putting a hole in the nose of my car with the rear of Marjorie's car. I also beg to differ on not being able to see how the crash happened. The silver car of Blake's hit Marjorie's front wheel with his rear wheel. Then she got into Gavin. Blake got sideways and hit the red F5 which spun him and brian hit. That is what I saw when I looked at it frame by frame.

Brian S (the green tail car) had nothing to do with it. Brian M (the black #5) had conceded the position and tucked in behind Brian S entering T-3. Brian M was just a victim the F500 spinning in front of him.

At 0:42 I see the red F5 on the left in T3 moving to his right. I can not see him at 0:44. Did he spin at that point causing the rest of the field to react? I thought Blake's silver Vee was slowing/moving to avoid the spinning red F5??
