mclaren m-26 starter kit. all you need is the chassis, engine and gearbox and body. supplied by you, and using standard vw beetle parts, you too can have a formula one car! so all this stuff is going out for FIA certified crack inspection on monday. i'll post some more shots when i start putting the car back together... -ethan

finally got the chassis back. 16 months and 120% of my yearly salary gets you a pretty nice hunk of 5052 and rivets...

Looks like you must have done the gearbox and engine, I see no diaper and it doesn't seem to be pissing on the floor anymore!

...first you have to mortgage your house. That MIGHT cover tires.

What house?.. Are these tires available off the shelf? There can't be that many cars running them, eh?

There are more vintage Formula One cars running than you might expect, in fact there is an entire organization dedicated to running the cars. You can find their website at www.historicgrandprix.com/My publisher here at VICTORY LANE, Dan Davis in fact owns the last EAGLE Formula One car built and we will most likely be running it at vintage events later this season. Additionally there is an entire organization dedicated to running Vintage Can Am cars as well and VICTORY LANE runs a series of event for them as well. You can find out about that at their website www.historiccanam.com/Vintage racing is in fact the healthiest and fastest growing sector of the amateur racing world, car counts are going UP not down. So is this a shameless plug? d**n STRAIGHT IT IS!

Yep, they're as available as any other race tire. I think the current price for a set is like $1200-$1300 or so. Roger Kraus keeps them in stock and YOU could have a set tomorrow! Avon makes a great race tire, you can realistically get 6-10 heat cycles out of these A11 compound tires (depending on how fast your driver is).

Post script: My dear M26 which I spent a zillion hours and such into has been sold and will be heading to a shop back east. I ran it for a season, from the Canadian GP at Montreal to the Monterey Motorsports Reunion, "Jane" was always the belle of the ball. On to the next...
