Ian- Well, I thought it was going pretty well, but we had just made it past the end of the pit wall on the first lap, so I might be wrong... I guess Brian had a pretty good view of the whole mess. I however, had my eyes closed for almost all of it.
Quinn- Well, I'm glad nobody got the pointy end of that axle lodged in the nose of their car, but I thought about it on the way home, that I should have tried to recover it, as it might have made a nice keepsake to mail to that black 38 car...

John, FF 50 "Harm" was on the outside front row, was caught shifting from first because the pace was a bit fast for his 1st. gear. Larry Bangert, car 38, got the jump on him from 3rd on the grid. Car 38 moved to drivers right before clearing car 50, impacting his right rear into the left front of car 50. The contact rotated 38 towards the wall and impacting car 55. I saw a huge column of tire smoke and was happy not to see any cars flying.
As they say, sh*t happens. This was a result of a couple of things happening at the same time. New driver on the pole, pace a bit fast, mismatched gears. I hate starts. Eight of my runoff trips have ended in the first turn of the first lap. Can never figure out why some think it's so important to win the first lap. A salient point to remember, does the offending driver have a history? If they do, drivers need to act via the protest process to document bad tendencies.
