Good size group for the season opener. 42 total w 14 CFs, 12 FFs, 11 FVs and 5 F5s. Yes, that is right, five F5s! Where are the Vees? Weather should be great. dave

-The season opener is done and we had a modified split start. The FF and CF were up front with the F500 and FV Grided behind. I would like input from those running how they liked it. The consensus from the FV group was it was good.

Results: Porter kid # 1, can I buy a vowel, Brett Smrz, did a good job on the start. The first 2 rows (Smrz, Nosler, Jalen, Sinzig) went 2 abreast around T1, T2 and T3 when I bailed as it was getting toooooo close for my comfort level. Smrz pulled away quickly (1:39.478) with Singiz (1:41.014) passing Nosler (1:41.127) for 2nd. Jalen was hanging tough in 4th (1:41.535). On the restart after a safety car parade, Nosler got by and held on to 2nd with Sinzig 3rd and Jalen 4th. In CF, Steve Gomas (1:45.939) passed Chuck Horn (1:45.382) when Chuck spun and just stayed ahead till the checkered. F5 was not a contest with Jeff Jorgenson (1:43.872) running with the FFs. 2nd place was Don Clar (1:48.826). But you really want the Vee story, I will bet. Ron Wake (1:55.683) seemed to have the lead from the green ahead of Dave Morss (1:55.954), Jim Petrek (1:56.391), Bryan Bartlett (1:57.865) just ahead of Brad Lloyd (1:57.925) in 5th. As a side note, I don't know which Vee was up at the front for the restart (5th in line behind Smrz, a white CF, Sinzig, Nosler, blue ? Vee, Jalen), but you can NOT point some one by when in a pace/safety car situation. If you wish to remove yourself from the impending fury of the restart, you need to disable yourself by raising your hand IN FRONT OF A CORNER STATION and move off the racing line. Once you let whoever it is by, then you can pull you arm and UNdisable your car. If the stewards ask, smile and say the engine started to miss, but then it cleared up and you were able to continue.
