As you all should know by now the FV feature weekend is June 23-24, 07 at Thunderhill Raceway. In addition to our own race (no FF, CF, F500) there is a $1000 dollar purse for this race. We will also have a drawing for one free entry to a Thunderhill regional race. This is our chance to show the region and the world what FV racing is all about. Dust off your cars, air up the tires, wash the driver's suit and tow the car to the track. This is the perfect weekend to get ready for the Formula Car Magazine race in July. Who knows a good finish or winning the drawing could pay for the following race. Tell your friends!

To everyone who attended the feature weekend: Thanks for the support. From what I gather everyone had a good time. If you liked the reserved paddock space let me know we can do that again if you like. The payout went out as follows; Derek Harding $300 Blake Tatum $200 Ron Wake $100 Jim Petrek $100
Random drawing Bruce Fuchiwaki (spelling?) $100 John Betty-Sylvan $100
Hard Luck Zack Stockton $100
Free Entry Tom Stratton
Next race is the FCM cup. Still looking for the tire pushing race contestants!!!!

Blake,
Who besides you do we thank for their efforts to put the feature race together? I had a great time and hope it can happen again.

Jim, thank the board of directors. They are the ones that have the vision to works towards building up classes like FV. Now is the time to start thinking about the 45 anniversary race next year. Start floating the ideas around.

Please don't schedule the 45th anniversary race to interfere with the national schedule. I think you'll get much better attendance that way.

Blake,
I liked the format of the 40th.
As food for thought; I grew up watching the Formula Ford festival and always loved the idea of heats. We did for the irish fv festival once and it was a great hit. if we had enough entries it might be worth considering.

It is going to be hard to get a lot of extra time on a race weekend schedule. Even if we meet our most optimistic goals for entries, we will still not be able to match the normal SM field.

How about trying to draw some big name drivers for the other side of the Rockies. I'm not sure what it would take to get a few to come.

Mike Palermo and his guys almost made the trip last time. maybe we could encourage them? might the club throw out a little tow money?
Last time there was talk of getting a pro driver who had driven vees previously? Fogarty maybe or one of the laziers (i think palermo knows them)
Brian H, heats might not require more time. Assuming the event is a double regional, then we have 5 or 6 sessions. Practice, qual, race etc. We could draw straws for grid positions and have short 15 min heat races replace the practice and qual sessions and then a 30min "final" race. Drawing straws would certainly mix it up.

If we have a formula car festival featuring FV with a very similar format to the format we had at the 40th anniversary race how people would come? It would most likely be scheduled after the regional race program is over so late October would most likely be the date. We would like to get FFst, Vintage FV, Regional/National FV.
In addition we would like to have FFs running the same weekend with FF, CF, and vintage FF all classes running their own separate race.
Since this would be a Formula Car festival we would even look into having a series like ZeeTec, so some other semi pro type series. before I get too far in this process I would like to know who is really serious about attending this type of event.
As far as the big names draw that would be worked on once it is determined that this is a doable event.
So start replying I need big numbers to keep the price down!!

The runoffs end on 10/14. If you can scedule enough after that, some of us can make it.

I second Brian's motion. I'll very likely be there if it's after the runoffs. Leroy

Late Oct is the double points regional, unless you are talking about next year.

The 2008 feature weekend for FV is not as pervious reported. It will be May 23 to 25. This is a double weekend at Thunderhill. So if you enter the double you will get three full races. Well worth the trip. Sorry for the change. If anyone from VARA in southern CA is interested in running get a hold of me early so we can figure out the license issue.

Blake, Are we going to use this as our 45th as well? I am assuming that it is, but would like to be clear about it.
