This section of the Left Coast Board has been created for Formula Vee drivers to post to in hopes of opening up a positive dialogue prior to the merging of our two run group in the San Francisco Region of the SCCA.

I guess I'll have to learn to drive with only my right hand as my left will be busy doing the "point to pass" Gus

Just relax and watch the Ford drivers. After awhile you will know who is going to do what and when and it will be natural to run with them.
Keep working at it GuS, yer doin' great!

I've found running with the Fords is not all doom and gloom. Here in Canada we run with them all the time, in fact, we run with FF2000. My experience is that FV's don't hold them up in the corners and that they simply go by on the straights. After all, they have to go to work on Monday as well. Just watch the mirrors and give them room in the braking zone. BTW, use the correct finger when you point them by Scott Arthur

I have posted the following on the APEX Formula Car message board: Hopefully we can actually start the communication before we all get to the track. I am looking to contact Ford Drivers who will be running in the San Francisco region of the SCCA in 2005.
As you probably know the region will be combining Group 4 (Fords) with the old Group 7 (Vees and F500s). I have noticed elsewhere on the board that there has been much discussion on this grouping.
OK, I'm a Vee driver who will be running with you next year (Please put down the rotten fruits and vegetables and step away from them). I also run the "LEFT COAST Formula Vee Board which can be found at:
norcalfv.proboards19.com/index.cgi
In the interest of ensuring all of our mutual safety and enjoyment of our expensive track time I have created a section for Ford Driver in the region to voice their views on the grouping, without interruption from the Vee drivers. There is also a section for the Vee drivers to have their say. FINALLY there is a MUTUAL section where actual communication can take place.
The idea for this is for us to start talking NOW, not waiting until we get to Laguna in April. It is so we can run safely together, enjoy our time on the track and in the paddock.
For the Ford drivers who choose to participate I, as moderator, make you a promise. If any of the Vee guys get out of line I will set them straight. I will also say if you just want to come to the board and rail against us I will treat you in an equal manner. The idea is to encourage CIVIL communication and open a dialogue so we can make the best of an unfortunate situation.

Hi Gang,
I thought I'd check in to see how this is working. The mix of formulas I mean. How's everyone coping? Have racers been cognisant and gentlemanly of others?

I like running with the fords, I have found if you drive the car hard every lap you really don't have allot problems. This forces me to keep the intensity level up every session. I have found if I am lazy with the throttle there seems to be a greater ford "presence" during the session.

I raced with the fords for the first time at the regional in April and was pleasantly suprised. I had expected problems but found that we performed well together and with a little more time will be right at home. I am looking forward to the May race. Dan
