Lots of talk going on about fuel and that some people are running hi dollar fuel. Well in the regional series, there are no rules. nationals there are. You can run what ever you want, but i thought there was an unwritten rule in the Vee class that we all would use Av gas or fuel from the pumps at the tracks.
If there is a car in front of you and it smells odd and your eyes burn, bet your last dollar a different fuel is being used. I also know that a lot of FF run hi dollar fuel, so that maybe where the smell is coming from?

I am WAY too cheap to use fuel at current prices. VP C44 as an example is currently about $50 a gal. I can't prove that we are not using these fuels because they will pass SCCA tests. I put a LOT of time into our car, but draw the line at excess money. My time is very cheap....
Unburned components of the fuel mixture are what burns the eyes. These legal fuels make power by cooling the incoming air/fuel charge. The chemical pollutants are no worse than normal av gas. Just because I go to the trouble to learn about fuels doesn't mean I use them!
Colin, why do you say there are different fuel rules between Nat and Reg.

At the nationals they check fuel, and if there is any masking agents or hi levels of oxygenators in it, pop goes the tester. Brian knows more about it than me.
No reason to defend yourself, this was not pointed at you, but to answer many questions floating around about fuel.
