TOPEKA, Kan. (Dec. 21, 2005) – Two hours of SCCA National Championship Runoffs® this Saturday make up the penultimate weekend of tape-delayed Runoffs coverage from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
Formula Ford and Spec Racer Ford, the 21st and 22nd races of the 2005 Runoffs, will each blast into viewers’ homes on SPEED Channel for an hour at a time, giving enthusiasts a solid look into the side-by-side action that ruled each race.
Saturday’s coverage begins at 1 p.m. (EST).
Things to watch:
• John Robinson II, of St. Cloud, Fla., will start the FF race from the pole, a spot dominated the past three years by Justin Pritchard (who instead ran Formula Continental in 2005). If Robinson is able to end the race where he begins it, it will be the first Runoffs championship of his career. John LaRue, of Muncie, Ind., won the FF title in 1997, but hasn’t ascended the top step of the podium since. He will start second alongside Robinson. Clark Cambern, of Haslett, Mich., is a Runoffs newcomer but could be the potential dark horse in FF from the fourth starting position.
• 2003 SRF Runoffs Champion John Black, of Olympic Valley, Calif., will start from the pole in his attempt to win his second title in three years. Joe Colasacco, of Greenwich, Conn., will start second and is looking for the first Championship of his career. Jeff Beck, of Ingleside, Ill., needs a victory to complete his quest for the Chicago Region Triple Crown, but to get it, he’ll have to overtake both Black and Colasacco from his third-starting position.
Previously aired replay schedule (all times Eastern):
Formula Vee: Thursday, Dec. 22, 4 a.m.
