I am starting a new thread as this was originally from another topic that is unrelated (split start mgmt).
It seems that problems are caused when the field bunches up during pace car laps for double yellow situations. Recently I have thought what it would be like if all the vee drivers either pulled off line to let the fords "re-create" their field behind the pace car and the vees would have an all vee restart. Another alternative would be for the Vees to go into the hot pits to re-form and join the field at the back of the pack (is this possible without incurring a penalty?). I know this is not a great proposition if your leading by two or three seconds and have several fords between you and the rest of the field, but it might lead to safer and more exiting races. It is just a thought so go easy on your reactions.
