At the final race of last year they let everyone line up in the turn 5 infield area until they opened the gate at about 4:00PM on Thursday. That race was also a 3 day event.

I seem to remember it was more like 5 to 5:30. I remember setting up in the dark. They don't let the crew in to mark the paddock before 4 and that takes an hour or so, right? dave

The acceptance letter states that no entrance to the paddock is allowed before 5:30 PM Thursday. Also that the gate will be open all night Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Preparking for early arrivals is to be in the old T2 area.

Stop by and say hello. I'm sure there will be someone who can use help, if not just come by.

Those were "worthy" pace car situations during the morning FF/FV race. Two separate FF only rollovers at turn 11. The second accident during the restart after the first incident. Did the Fords do any better later in the afternoon?

The Vee races were about the same with Rick S. winning both. There were two pace car situations during both races. Derek H. and Jim P. had an interesting bit of bad luck during the first pace car period of the Sat race. Just AFTER the yellows came out, they were passed by the lead FF under the yellow and then put behind the pace car, thus breaking them off from the front three Vees. A lot of hand waving from the fuel test portpit did no good. Yeh...stuff happens!

Some badly broken toys. The first incident in the Sunday am race happened with Scott (DB1-white) exiting T10 too wide, got into the dirt and came back across the track collecting Eric (DB1#18 black). Both cars ended up along the wall between T10 & T11, driver's right. Eric was head first into the wall, car on it's side. Very major damage. Scott's front had major damage. Second incident was during the restart. Paul R. (Crossle #21 white) got his wheels tangled with Lampkin's (Lola -yellow) wheels. Paul did a few barrel rolls in the sand trap. All four corners damaged, roll bar scraped up. I bet Eric and Paul are very sore today. Good news is only the toys were broken and NOT the drivers. The feature race started poorly--gear oil on track from a car during the warm up lap (maybe plug left out?) from S/F to S/F, some areas heavy. Grease sweep applied during pace lapS (3-4) to get track cleaned. Still was dirty, dusty and a little slick in spots and very un-nerving to drive hard after the green flew. No pace car situation's after the start. dave
