Be sure to come by my paddock if I don't find you first to sign the thank you letter for the gas card winners. Also, let me know if you would like to help handing out the cards. I'm normally under the big top. As alway, your cash donation is appreciated. dave

The "N" is for Noobie. I was the novice driver in the orange #76 club ford last weekend. The adrenaline high is finally subsiding.
I want to thank everyone who offered their advice, knowledge, assistance, and parts to help me make the race. I have never felt welcomed into a group of people as you all.
In thanks, I hope I do not forget anyone:
Getting on Track - Dave Hutchings - Dave built my motor and then rebuilt it when I broke it with a leaky water pump. He has helped me with break-in and other problems. Dave also loaned me his Tiga for drivers school.
John Morgan - John has been really helpful with his advice, encouragement, parts, and specialized tools to get my car on track.
At the Track - Don Nester and Tom Carney - Long time Golden Gate Lotus friends... Don and Tom would not let me give up and go home. We discovered the cause of overheating - ignition timing Sunday morning. We retimed the ignition and made a huge improvement. The engine never went over 200 degrees during the race. We also discovered a few other small issues and resolved them right away.
Mike Bernstein - It was great meeting you for the first time. Thank you so much for your advice and assistance with parts to get the engine running properly.
Dave Jalen - for your advice and encouragement. ANY time you need assistance to loading up, my sons and I are glad to help.
Tom Duncan - I always appreciate your advice and help.
Rich McCloskey and Alan Dezzani - Great meeting you both and thank you for your help.
Bill Steele - Great meeting you finally.
Neil Porter - your advice, encouragement, and having the parts I needed.
I know I was slow. Not enough practice time, particularly through the back part of the course. I had a total of six laps in two days of watching the temp gauge climb and the oil pressure fall. I need to fit my car better (lose 80 lbs), get another helmet with a larger eyeport and better clearance for my HANS device so I can see the gauges.
During the double yellow I saw everyone behind in my mirrors with the guy directly behind me waving frantically. At first I thought I was leaking something, but then the waves turnd to a "forward/hurry" wave and I got the message. So, I took off to catch up as fast as I safely could. I'm glad we caught the pack before the start too. Both Neil Porter and Mike Bernstein complimented me on the restart and that I looked like I was pedaling as fast as I could.
Next event I will continue to hold my line and mind the mirrors. Vee drivers - I have read the posts in the group thread. I will not try to join your race or hold you up. If you think I have held you up, please come by and see me and talk with me.
I need to go back out to the garage and apologize to both the engine and gearbox for the abuse I inflicted upon them.
Best regards, Dan Wise

Dan, glad we could help out. If you are planning on running Labor Day @ Infineon, the Racing Drivers Club (RDC) can give you a "tour" of the track Saturday morning before the event. Show you the line, braking points, etc. Dave Allen is in charge of driver development and arranges the rides. Or contact me (I'm the VP).
This offer is for any newbie not just Dan.
