Hello all who entered and ran this past weekend. As those of you who ran Saturday, I was at the back of the field due to a gearbox explosion that kept me from qualifying on Friday afternoon. I would hope that each of my passes in coming through the field were executed in a gentlemanly fashion. If not please feel free to flame me. ;-)
My commentary here is not directed any single individual, but the run group as a whole, regardless of class:
Some folks in this run group have a very "interesting" interpretation of the racing line at Thunderhill. In no instance that I can think of is the line in the middle of the track, with the possible exception of T7. In my Saturday video there are numerous instances where FV's and CF's are driving in a non-precision manner making it very dicey to pass.
In one instance, an FV was in front of a CF as we were exiting T11-T13, and the V drove through the T13 apex almost a full car width off the curb, then moved first right, then left, then to the middle. That made it very difficult for the 3 cars behind to effect a safe and smooth pass, resulting in one car on the left and 2 cars on the right splitting the V. Downright scary!
My point in this is that to co-exist in this run group, whether it's just CF/FF/FV or adding the FC's to the group, requires a lot of precision and predictability. The other thing required is a bit of patience on the part of the CF/FF/FC racers. Two of our brethren did not exhibit much of this on Saturday, and the results were predictable. My heartfelt apologies for them.
Perhaps they will learn over time that a few extra seconds to execute a much more palatable pass will be rewarded with finishes and smiles instead of broken cars...
Kind regards,
Greg Mercurio FC37
