Stan Townes took both Don and Ron's cars to the Runoffs yesterday. He should be out there by Sunday. The weather looks to be in the upper 60's and lower 70's with only a couple days of rain forecasted. We will be leaving on Sat. the 18th and arriving in Chicago later that day. We will then rent a car and drive up to the track. You can watch the race online here www.speedcasttv.com/scca/

We will be flying out tomorrow and should get into Chicago by 1 or 2. We then have a 3 hour drive up to Road America. We will be posting daily in the evening of the days events. We might even post some pictures too.

Bruce,
Good luck to the West Coast FV group. I'm looking forward to your reports. Thanks in advance for taking the time to post the news on all the fun we will be missing!

Saturday- We got to the track just after 5pm cst. We were able to register and go to the cars. Picked up our stuff that Stan had taken out for us. We went to will call and got our tires and fuel. We still have some things coming in on Mon. Weather cold but dry.
Sunday- got up late was unable to get any track time since it had been sold out. Don was able to get the last session in since Dennis Andrade decided he was going to change his engine instead. It started to rain a half hour before they were to go out, but it only lasted for 5 minutes so it didn't have any effect. Still cold though, 50 when the sun went down, I don't think it ever got over 60.

Monday- First qualifying session Don was on the pole. He lead everyone out. The weather was cold, but the sun came out just as the group went out to the track.
Tuesday- off day. Don said hello to the wall in Canada corner, he knocked the steering box loose. We got together and realigned it. Stan Townes got started on the rebuild of his car and should have it done by tomorrow. Ron installed his new windscreen thanks to Rick Schick.

Wed- Weather could not have been better. Second qualifying session Ron got up with some cars and was able to run with them. He lowered his time by over 3 second and has moved from P25 to P17. Don spun in Turn 6 and was hit on his left front wheel. He had a bent spindle and damaged steering box.
We had a surprise visitor today. I was on pit wall and Toad came up to say hi. He was only able to stay a short while. I have video, but it is partially corrupted. Will try to post later
Stan has his car back together and will make his qualifying session tomorrow.
The Womer crab cake party was tonight and it was a gathering. Food and invitee's were great.

Thurs- Final day of Qualifying. The track was slow. Too hot and oily. Few improved, most just drove around.
Friday- Off day. Today was cold and windy, the worst conditions so far. Stan was in the final race today, unfortunately he crashed coming out of the carousel. His steering column separated and he bent the left front.

Sun- Those that watched online saw more than I. It started cold, but it cleared and the sun did come out. I would have to say it was the best day we enjoyed. The race started and completed a lap before the incidences started. All but McCarthy from the west coast got through. Neumeister who prefers to be called Nuby the Great set a new race record.
I now have to wait to see the race.

I seem to have forgotten the other FF participant, Ethan Shippert. He went through some crazy tire mixup, not sure if they were ever settled. I think he received 2 to 3 year old tires. He did have a very eventful race escaping all the maylay in T-5 and dicing with a competitor, exchanging positions. Good job.
