You're kidding.. Is that the normal price of a regional in California? That is a little over twice our entry fees up here. Granted we're not racing at "Infineon" but.. d**n!

I was talking with a Board member of a marque club that rented Sears a couple of weeks ago and their cost of renting Sears/Infineon was $65K for the weekend-they lost almost $20K. You have to charge a lot to break even if your entries are down. dave

Yes it's normal for SF region, the highest in the country. This event is a three day double so the price is higher than normal. Even the double national at TH in the spring is $100 higher than the double national at Buttonwillow the following month. Just a SF thing I guess. Sears, oops Infinieon, charges an arm and leg as well. Last I heard it was $28 k a day plus amenities like toilets and showers.
The vintage folks, CSRG, pay about $450 and I think it's a for profit group.

so far, 155 total entries on Saturday (a few less on Sunday) with Grp 4 tied with SM (Grp) 5 & 7 at 29. The low group has only 12 (Grp 1). SRF (Grp 6) has only 22. Grp 4 CF 7 FC 5 FV 8 FF 8 F5 1
If Infineon charges $65 K for the weekend, and the entry fee is $490 times 155 entries=$76K, but a lot of the SM drivers enter in two groups so grp5 (ITA) is only paying less than half of the $490 for the second entry (Dual entry $160). So if you take away the 29 entries @$490 and add 29 @ $160, now we get $67K. Now add the cost of emergency vehicles (ambulances) and trophy costs, meals for workers, etc. and the region has lost money. Big time bummer dave

Sears has been a budget buster for years. In theory, enough revenue should be made at other events so the region can break even. I can only guess the extra race causes the 3rd day since the region does doubles in two days other weekends. Does that mean we all pay for a 3rd day for the extra race for one group? Who knows. Maybe someone from the Board can chime in.
